    Digital Printing

This songbook printing project is a collection of the scores of local folk singer Tom Taylor’s songs. It is a lovely collection of scores for the songs interspersed with photos. The plastic coil binding is a great choice, since the book lays flat when singing or playing the songs. We felt this was a really great tribute to Tom Taylor’s songs.

Client Review for Songbook Printing Project:

Beloved local folk singer Tom Taylor has written a large catalog of songs, and in early 2020, he, sister Marylee, and friend Vern Lindberg decided to produce a Tom Taylor Songbook to preserve his songs. Tom and Marylee handled getting the lyrics in order and Vern handled production of scores with chords, checked by Tom and Marylee. The final part of the project was choosing pictures to illustrate the two books: a mix of family photos and public domain images.

Then it was time to get the books printed. Surfing the web, Vern found Dazzle Printing, which had excellent reviews and an easy-to-use guide to estimate printing costs.

We talked with Renee Benson at Dazzle about printing details and production time for the two books. We wanted to sell the books at our September 11 Turtle Hill Folk Festival, and Renee assured us that the time for production and shipping would have the books to us by September 10, and we placed the order on August 30.

The online proof for the lyrics, produced in Microsoft Word, was perfect. Proofing the scores revealed a problem. Swedish software, Scorecloud, was used to produce the scores and when Dazzle set up the proof, pictures were missing! The source of the problem was that the Swedish program defaulted to European paper sizes.

Here is where Dazzle really stepped up. Renee said she could take care of the issue, and even add in page numbers. Finally, she added a nice tan color to the cover page, and by August 31 the books were ready for production.

As promised, the books arrived on my doorstep Friday just before our festival. The books were securely packaged to prevent any damage in shipping, and they were absolutely stunning. People who have purchased the books have commented on their high quality.

Kudos to the people at Dazzle Printing. They were a joy to work with, and the product was superb. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to others.
